Triple Crown to close girls basketball division; will still run Colorado's Finest, May 2020.2/4/2020 Triple Crown Sports would like to extend our most sincere thanks and appreciation to all of the college coaches and club programs that supported Triple Crown Sports events in women’s basketball. We are grateful for the time and energy you exhibited when attending our events.
At this point, Triple Crown ownership has decided to close the girls’ basketball division that was focused on college exposure. While we never lost enthusiasm for how our events would benefit young players in their journey to making a college roster, there were several obstacles in sustaining a successful and profitable business model: 1. The unpredictability of the NCAA and their decisions in the certification of events, too many events, varying dates and an endless submittal of documentation. 2. The financial reach and influence of the sneaker companies and other event sponsors. 3. The question of whether this customer is willing to pay a premium price for a premium event. 4. The relentless challenge of building relationships with clubs in a market that considers us authentic and recognizable in the sport. The Colorado’s Finest Basketball Exhibition, set for May 2-3, 2020 at Metro State and Regis in Denver, is not an NCAA Certified event but will continue to be offered. This event, which has been in existence for the past three years, will be managed and run by Triple Crown event director John Casale. This is a popular D-II, D-III, NAIA and JUCO-fueled recruiting event that has featured club programs from Colorado, Idaho, New Mexico, Oregon, Texas, Washington and Wyoming. For more information, contact John Casale at (970) 402-6900. |
